计量金融 Quantitative Finance (QFIN)

基本介绍

QFIN（Quantitative Finance ）计量金融学, 属于商学院下面的理学士（B.Sc. in Quantitative Finance, Faculty of Business Administration） ，内地高考生在入学时无法直接选择该专业，需要在次年二月开始进行转专业申请，四月左右进行面试，六七月份正式出结果。具体要求可于学系官网查找。

专业就读体验（以下体验较为主观）

优势

  1. 在香港甚至其他地方实习/就业时的强大Program Brand背书；
  1. 在课程/职业方向选择时的高灵活度和自由度：简单来说QFIN=Finance+Quantitative Skillset (MATH/CS/STAT)，专业课包括金融加上1-3个你喜欢的方向深入学习；也会有同学顺便就辅修了CS/STAT/MATH；当然自由度还体现在你也可以只选一些基本的数理课，多上一些金融/会计/经济和泛商科的课程，最后的课表类似于传统金融；
  1. 丰富的院系资源和校友网络：包括但不限于实习求职资源分享/校友Networking/就业指导等；

缺陷

  1. 没感觉到有明显缺陷，可能名字有一定欺骗性（与做Quant并无直接关联，还需要自己深入学习）；
  1. Peer pressure, 还有可能就是学期找工假期实习没法好好上课和度假；

升学去向（以内地生为主的近年不完全统计）

  • Princeton MFin, MIT MFin, Columbia MFE, LBS MFA, LSE MFin, HKU HKUST MFE/MFin等

  • 主要部门：量化/SnT/投行(iBank)/投研(Equity Research)/转码/PB/WM等；
  • 可参考QFIN官网就业报告及LinkedIn数据；
  • Buy-side Quants, who
  • develop quantitative models to predict asset prices and create backtested strategies,
  • require collaboration as well as strong mathematical and programming skills,
  • likely thrive under stress, enjoy the project-based nature of quant firms with less hierarchy, and love intellectual stimulation from Math/ Finance/ CS problems.
  • Sell-side Sales and Trading Division (SnT) roles, who
  • generate revenue or commissions through trading activities with clients,
  • require sharp market acumen, knowledge towards securities pricing and clarity to articulate own market opinions to colleagues and clients,
  • likely enjoy job security under hierarchy, earlier work hours, and the freshness dealing with new structured products.
  • Sell-side Investment Banking Division (IBD) roles, who
  • specialize in corporate finance deals in the form of product and industry groups,
  • require attention to workplace etiquettes and extensive communication, on top of hard skill qualifiers such as industry research and valuation modelling ability,
  • likely enjoy the sense of achievement from closing big deals while being able to tolerate extremely long hours.
